Regular and Non-Regular Class competition at the ACKCSC National Specialty spans three exciting days. Beautiful dogs, exciting competition, gorgeous rosettes and prizes are just a few of the things awaiting you in 2022.

In addition to the other lovely prizes regularly offered, this year special cash prizes of $500 each for Best Bred by Exhibitor Dog & Bitch in Class will be offered this year in Memory of Robert Schroll by Erica & Rachel Venier of Orchard Hill Cavaliers. See premium list for guidelines.

Dates: Tuesday, April 12 – Thursday, April 14
Tuesday: Regular Dog classes + Veteran Dog classes
Wednesday: Regular Bitch classes + Veteran Bitch classes
Thursday: Best of Breed + Stud Dog/Brood Bitch + Brace + National Owner Handler Series

Barbara has been involved with purebred dogs for much of her life. She started with Golden Retrievers in the 1960’s, although her parents got a Golden as a companion for her youngest sister when Barbara was in college. She bought her first 1968, and began showing in the early 1970’s. All of her initial dogs were also taken through basic obedience. She has bred and finished numerous champions, including National Specialty, Independent Specialty, Group and Best in Show winners.

Starting in the early 1900’s Barbara has owned, shown, finished and bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, having first fallen in love with the breed while visiting England. She was also a founding member of ACKCSC. She is a founding member of the Blue Ridge Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, having continuously served on the Board and as Show Chair.

Barbara has been an approved judge since 1991. In addition to Cavaliers she also judges English Toy Spaniels, Italian Greyhounds, all Sporting breeds and the Group, all Hound breeds and the Group, Junior Showmanship and Best in Show. She has had the opportunity to travel and judge in several different countries. Although she has been privileged to have had many wonderful assignments, there is no greater honor then being invited to judge Specialties, especially the National for one’s own breed.
