Judge:  Barbara Pepper

Judge’s Bio:

“Barbara Pepper has been involved with Purebred dogs for much of her life, and Golden Retrievers since the 1960s.  Her parents got a Golden as a companion for her youngest sister when she was in college. She bought her first in 1968, and began showing in matches and point shows in the early 1970’s. Her first dogs were taken through basic obedience. She has bred and finished numerous champions, including National Specialty, Independent Specialty, Group and Best in Show winners. She personally handled one of the first Golden Retriever Bitches to achieve GRCA Show Dog Hall of Fame status.  Dogs she has bred were not only successful in the breed ring, but did well for their owners in performance events and in the field with active hunters. Barbara has also been actively involved with several hound breeds, including Whippets, Greyhounds and PBGV since the early 1980's. Again, she has enjoyed much success, especially with PBGV. Further, she has owned, shown, finished and breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels since early 1990's.

Barbara has been judging Golden Retrievers and PBGV since 1991. She is presently approved to judge Cavaliers, English Toy Spaniels, Italian Greyhounds, all but eleven Sporting Breeds, the Hound Group, Junior Showmanship, Misc., and Best In Show. She has had the honor and privilege of judging Best of Breed at both the Golden Retriever and PBGV National Specialties. International assignments have included Golden Nationals in China, Indonesia and South Korea.  In 2016, she was honored with her first judging assignments at Westminster Kennel Club and at the AKC/Eukanuba Show.”
